Associate Scientist
Job Location: Oxford
Salary: up to £34,000 DOE
We are working with a leading Biotechnology company in the field of oncolytic viral therapies, developing best-in-class oncolytic immunotherapies suitable for direct and systemic intravenous delivery They have an immediate opportunity for an Associate Scientist to join their multidisciplinary and dynamic team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execution of experiments, collating, analysing and presenting data from a variety of sources;
- Routine laboratory experiments including, but not limited to:
- Maintenance of cell culture; Processing of primary tumour material; DNA and RNA extraction; Flow cytometry; Ensuring virus batch quality control; Supporting histology experiments (IF/IHC) Detailed recording of experiment details and processes;
- Supporting a team of scientists working with various human tumour models, to include the maintenance of quality sample archiving systems;
- Day-to-day maintenance of the laboratory.
Job Requirement:
- A BSc and/or MSc degree in a relevant discipline (such as Virology, Cancer Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology);
- Hands on, independent wet lab experience conducted as part or degree or placement project.
- Recent experience in at least two of the following:
- Cell culture
- Primary tumour culture
- Virology techniques (such as purification, plaque assays and TCID50)
- Molecular and/or Biochemical techniques (such as bacterial cell culture, cloning, PCR, ELISA and flow cytometry)
- Strong IT skills (including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and comfort using shared drives.
- Strong communicator who is adaptable.
- Pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry placement experience (will put candidates at a significant advantage)
